48mm Sonora Sunset, Sterling and Copper Pendant
Necklace with Handcrafted Beads and Three Strands
of Carnelian, Smoky Quartz & Aventurine
This ”wow” Necklace showcases a handcrafted 48mm Sonora Sunset, Sterling and Copper Pendant by Metalsmith Jim Daggett. Sonora Sunset -- comprised of Cuprite and Chrysocolla -- was discovered several years ago at a copper mine in Sonora, Mexico. Our triangular-shaped Stone has been cut to feature the Red (Cuprite) elements of the rock, with attractive traces of Green and Black. The Stone is prong set and rests on a plate of Sterling Silver overlaid on a plate of Copper. The Sterling has been cut to depict the Organ Mountains, a dominant range in Las Cruces, NM. The reverse side of the Pendant (not shown) is Reticulated Silver, or Silver that is heated to display ridged and rippled patterns. The Pendant is flanked by 14mm Sterling Silver Rondelle Beads and paired with three strands of Coral, Smoky Quartz and Aventurine, which mirror the Sonora Sunset tones. The Stones are highlighted by Four 21mm Sterling and Copper Handcrafted Beads and 8mm Copper Bicones. The Necklace is Finished with Sterling Silver Cones and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a hand-stamped Sterling “Southwest Designs” tab. The piece weighs 159 grams, and is 21-1/4 inches long. The Pendant is 48mm in diameter, or approximately 1-7/8 inches.
