This terrific Necklace showcases a Sterling Silver and Copper 3-Layer Thunderbird Pendant by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. The base of the Pendant is Rolled Sterling Silver, created by pouring molten Sterling on a workbench, then rolling and shaping the piece. Rolled Sterling is 3 to 4 times the thickness of standard 20-gauge Sterling Plate, and it has a substantial, weighty feel. The Rolled Sterling has been shaped at the edges, adding texture and design interest. The 2nd layer of the Pendant is Copper Plate, which has been cut in the shape of the Thunderbird.* The top layer is a Sterling Silver Thunderbird, cut just slightly smaller than the Copper layer below it, creating a shadow effect. The Pendant drapes from a V-shaped Sterling Silver Bail. The piece is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark and "Sterling." All components are polished to a fine sheen, creating a very striking piece. We've paired the Pendant with 3 strands of 6mm Black Button Pearls, which are slightly domed. The Pearls are iridescent and flash a number of hues, including black, chocolate brown, and gold. The Pearls are highlighted by 6-by-12mm Sterling Silver Cylinders, 9-by-11mm Sterling Urn Beads, and 7-by-7.5mm Copper Bicones. These elements pick up the tones in the Pendant and add sparkle to the design. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 120 grams and is 20-1/2 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-1/2 inches by 1-1/8 inches including the 1/2-inch Bail (when wearing, a vertical hang length of about 9 inches).
