This exceptional Necklace showcases a Sonoran River Turquoise and Reticulated Silver Cross Pendant by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. The Sonoran River Turquoise has been blended with Bronze and compressed to form a stone with great character and beauty. The Turquoise is cut in a diamond shape, and set in a Sterling Silver Bezel on a Cross made of Reticulated Silver. Reticulation is the process of heating Sterling Silver at high temperatures; the Copper alloy in the interior of the metal flows before the surface metal does, creating wonderful textures. This Cross was created by "splashing" molten Reticulated Silver on a work surface, allowing it to cool, then cutting the Silver to the desired dimensions. The Cross is 3-5/8 inches tall by 2 inches wide — including the 5/8-inch Sterling Silver Bail — and feels substantial (due to the melting and splashing process, Reticulated Silver is thicker than standard Sterling Sheet). It is etched on the back with the artist's initials, "JWD." We've paired this great piece with 2 strands of color-matched Campitos Turquoise Nuggets, in vivid turquoise-blue with silver matrix. The Nuggets are about 5-by-12mm in dimension, and polished to a soft sheen. The Turquoise is complemented by 8mm Amber Quartz Rounds, which are semi-translucent and pick up the bronze tones in the Cross. The stones are highlighted by 10mm Stamped Hill Tribe Silver Rounds. The subtle patterns on the Rounds pair nicely with the Reticulated Silver. At the top of the Necklace the 2 strands of Turquoise Nuggets transition to 2 strands of 4mm Black Agate Rounds. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and a Stamped Sterling Toggle Clasp, and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 168 grams and is 20-1/2 inches long, plus the Cross Pendant (a vertical hang length of about 11 inches when wearing).
