This vibrant Necklace displays 7 strands of antique Sherpa “Coral” Glass Beads, made by the Sherpa people. The Sherpas are a tribe of Tibetan origin who occupy the high valleys around the base of Mount Everest in northeastern Nepal. These rare replica Coral Beads were used in trade and are estimated to be from the early 1900’s. The Sherpa Glass is barrel-shaped and displays varied shades of coral with black shading. The Beads are fairly uniform in size, with the smallest being approximately 5-by-5mm and the largest 7-by-9mm. The colors are rich and the Beads are in excellent condition. In designing and crafting this Necklace our goal was to create an eye-catching, statement piece. As such, this is a long, cascading Necklace which includes over 550 Sherpa Beads, a valuable collection. We've integrated the Sherpa Beads with 5mm dark brown Pen Shell Heishi, and highlighted the Beads with 8mm Stamped Sterling Ridged Rounds, 8mm Polished Rounds, and 9-by-12mm Ridged Round Ovals. At the top of the Necklace the 7 Strands of Sherpa Beads transition to 3mm Penn Shell Heishi, streamlining the design. The Necklace is finished with 6mm Sterling Silver Rounds and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 174 grams and the 7 strands range in length from 26 inches to 30 inches.
