This exceptional Necklace showcases a Kingman Turquoise and Sterling Silver Teardrop Pendant handcrafted by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. Kingman Turquoise — from the active mine in Kingman, Arizona — is found in three primary colors: medium-blue, blue-green, and vivid deep blue. Our stone is the third category; a rich, vivid blue with brown matrix. We purchased the rock in February 2017 directly from the mine operators and Jim crafted the stone into this striking cabochon. The cabochon is set in a raised Sterling Silver Bezel on a plate of Sterling Silver that mirrors the shape of the stone. The Sterling Plate has been stamped on each corner in a linear pattern that adds great character to the piece. The Pendant hangs from a custom Sterling Silver Bail and is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark and "Sterling." We've matched the Kingman Turquoise Pendant with 4 strands of Egyptian Turquoise Nuggets, which are a rich blue with brown matrix, mirroring the Kingman stone. This attractive Turquoise is from the Mt. Sinai region of the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. Sinai was called Mafkat or "country of turquoise" by the ancient Egyptians. The Egyptians mined turquoise in Sinai at two locations, which were worked intermittently and on a seasonal basis for thousands of years. Unfortunately, modern attempts to mine the deposits have been unprofitable, so Egyptian Turquoise has become rare. We've paired the Egyptian Turquoise Nuggets with 3mm Olive Shell Heishi, 3mm Vintage Czechoslovakian Nailheads, and 3mm light green Fire Polished Glass. The Nailheads and Fire Polished Glass are faceted, providing subtle sparkle. The Turquoise is further highlighted by Ornate Sterling Silver Cylinder Beads, which are 8-by-19mm in dimension and have attractive dotted vertical lines. At the top of the Necklace the 4 strands of Egyptian Turquoise transition to 4 strands of Olive Shell Heishi, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring wearer comfort. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 102 grams and is 21 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-3/4 inches by 2 inches including a 3/8-inch Bail.
