This impressive Necklace showcases an 11-Stone Turquoise and Sterling Silver Cross Pendant by Santa Fe artist David Umpleby. The Stones are a combination of Emerald Valley and Ma'anshan Turquoise, in hues of emerald and olive green with brown matrix. The oval Stones have been set in raised Sterling Silver Bezels and ornamented with 42 handcrafted Sterling Silver Balls. These elements are set on Sterling Silver Plate that has been cut in the shape of a Four Corners Cross. The Sterling has been slightly oxidized, allowing the Silver Balls to shine against the darker backdrop. The Cross has a handcrafted back Bail, formed as a wide arch. The Pendant is stamped on back with the artist's hallmark "DEU," "Made in Santa Fe" and "Sterling." This is a striking and intricate piece.
We've paired the Pendant with 5 strands of color-matched gemstones, including Jade, Peridot and Nugget Pearls. There are 2 types of Jade, including 6mm light green Jade Rondelles and 6mm emerald green Jade Rounds. Similarly there are 2 types of Nugget Pearls, including 3mm forest green Pearls and 6-by-7mm silvery-green Pearls. Theses gemstones are complemented by 5mm chartreuse green Peridot Rounds and 3-and-4mm Fire Polished Glass. These 2 elements are translucent, adding shimmer and subtle sparkle. The blend of shapes, sizes and hues adds wonderful visual interest to the design. The gemstones are highlighted by a 32 Sterling Silver Beads, including 10mm Rondelles, 8mm Bench-Made Rounds, 6mm Rounds, and 5mm Oxidized Sterling Rounds. There are also fifteen 4mm Sterling Silver Rounds forming the chain for the Pendant Bail. The Sterling Silver Beads shine brightly against the rich hues of the blended gemstones. At the top of the Necklace the 5 strands of Jade, Pearls and Peridot transition to 5 strands of Fire Polished Glass, streamlining the silhouette for a comfortable fit. The Necklace is finished with a Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 138 grams and is 20-1/2 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2 inches square (when wearing, a vertical length of about 10 inches).
