This remarkable Necklace showcases a Variscite, Sterling Silver and Copper Pendant by Nevada silversmith Jim Daggett. Variscite is a relatively rare phosphate mineral that is often confused with Turquoise; it is formed by direct deposition from phosphate-bearing water that has reacted with aluminum-rich rocks. Our Stone is rich turquoise-green in color with delicate black and golden-brown matrix, characteristic of Variscite found in Lander County, NV. The Variscite is wrapped in Copper that has been hammered and shaped to fit its form. The Copper has been decoratively cut and folded, and covered in a layer of Reticulated Silver, creating texture and contrast. The Pendant has a matching Sterling Silver Bail that has also been embellished with Reticulated Silver. The piece is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark. We've paired this striking piece with three strands of 6mm Turquoise Rondelles, color-matched to the Pendant. The Rondelles are complemented by 8x12mm Turquoise Barrel Beads and 2.5mm Copper Heishi, adding visual contrast and subtle sparkle. The Stones are highlighted by 8mm Sterling Silver Bicones, which mirror the crisp lines of the Pendant surround. At the top of the Necklace the Turquoise Rondelles transition to three strands of 4mm Black Agate Rounds, streamlining the design. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Cones and Hammered Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 118 grams and is 20-1/2 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 3 inches by 2-1/4 inches including the Bail.
