This striking Necklace showcases a Peanut Wood* and Sterling Silver Pendant by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. The Peanut Wood – a fossil wood formed millions of year ago – is near-black with swirls of ivory, creating a striking interplay of color. The Stone is post-set with 6 individual Sterling Silver Rods, each capped with a Sterling Ball. The Pendant has a polished Bail and full Silver back, stamped with the artist’s hallmark and “Sterling.” We’ve matched this singular piece with color-matched Vintage Black Amber Coin Beads, Smoky Quartz 7mm and 9mm Polished Rounds, Glass Ivory Pearls, and 4mm Black Agate. The Amber Coin Beads are graduated in size from 12-19mm and are slightly translucent with a wonderful aged luster. The Stones are highlighted by 14mm Sterling Shell Beads and 8mm Sterling Rounds. The Necklace is finished with 21mm Sterling Silver Cylinders and a Sterling Hook Clasp with Chain Extender. It is adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm (not shown). The piece weighs 120 grams and is 19-1/2 inches long plus the 3-inch Extender. The Pendant is 2-7/8 inches tall by 2-1/4 inches wide including the 5/8-inch Bail.
* Peanut Wood is a petrified wood, found near the coastal town of Carnarvon, Western Australia, about 500 miles north of Perth. It is estimated to be around 120 million years old.
