This eye-catching Necklace showcases a Reticulated Silver and NuGold Bear Pendant handcrafted by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. Reticulation is the process of heating Sterling Silver at high temperatures; the Copper alloy in the interior of the metal flows before the surface metal does, creating wonderful textures. The Bear was created by "splashing" molten Reticulated Silver on a work surface, allowing it to cool, then cutting the Silver to the desired dimensions. The Bear is adorned with a curved and flowing Arrow, symbolizing protection. The Arrow is made from NuGold, which is an alloy of copper and zinc that has the appearance of 14K yellow gold. The contrasting effect of these elements — the bright sheen of the Arrow against the textured Silver — is quite striking. The mixed metals make the piece quite versatile; it will pair nicely with both Silver and Gold Bracelets or Earrings and many color combinations. The Bear has a matching Reticulated Silver Bail, and is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark.
We've matched the Bear Pendant with Natural Turquoise Round Disc in rich turquoise blue with dark brown matrix. The stones are graduated, ranging in diameter from 7mm to 22mm. The Turquoise is beautifully shaped and smooth to the touch. It is polished to a soft sheen. The stones are highlighted by four 8mm Hill Tribe Silver Rondelles, each of which is stamped with 4 Sunbursts. The Rondelles are positioned on either side of the Pendant Bail, enabling a smooth transition. At the top of the Necklace the Turquoise Disc is finished with 2 strands of 3mm Fire Polished Glass Ovals, streamlining the silhouette for wearer comfort. The Ovals are faceted, sparkling in reflected light. The Necklace has a Hammered Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp and is adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 160 grams and is 20-3/4 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-3/8 inches by 2-3/4 inches including the 1/2-inch Bail (when wearing, a vertical length of about 10 inches).
Note: The light exposure and camera angle have caused the Bear Pendant to appear oxidized, but it is not. The Reticulated surface is textured, but it is a polished Silver without any oxidation.
