This uncommon piece showcases a Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and Sterling Silver Cross Pendant by Navajo artist Ronnie Willie. The Cross has four Sleeping Beauty Ovals encased in Sterling Bezels, set on an oxidized plate of Sterling Silver. Sleeping Beauty – still mined today in small quantities in Globe, AZ – is a highly sought-after Turquoise due to its rich blue color with very little matrix or veining. The Turquoise is encircled by highly polished Sterling Silver Crosses and Sterling Balls, contrasting with the oxidized background. The Pendant hangs from a Sterling Bail and is stamped on the back with the artist’s hallmark and “Sterling.” We’ve paired the Cross with 3 strands of blue Turquoise Rectangles, mirroring the Sleeping Beauty Turquoise in the Pendant. The Stones, ranging in length from 7-to-10 mm, are interspersed with 16 oxidized Sterling Silver Rounds in 4.5 mm and 6 mm diameters. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Cones and a Twisted Sterling Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm (not shown). The Necklace weighs 72 grams and is 21 inches long, plus the Pendant, which is 2-3/4 inches by 1-7/8 inches including a 5/8-inch bail.
