This eye-catching Necklace showcases a Sonora Sunset and Sterling Silver Pendant by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. Sonora Sunset was discovered in the Milpillas Copper Mine in Sonora, Mexico shortly after the mine opened in 2006. The gemstone is beautifully colored, with red (Cuprite), green (Chrysocolla) and black (Iron) markings. Though Milpillas is still in operation, the Sonora Sunset was mined out years ago and is a rare and sought after stone. Our stone displays an artistic rendering of all three minerals, with large areas of green and burgundy-red. The stone has been cut in a marquise shape, or like an ellipse with 2 pointed ends. It is wrapped in a raised Sterling Silver Bezel and set on Sterling Silver Plate. The Pendant drapes from a custom V-shaped Sterling Silver Bail with contoured edges. The piece is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark and "Sterling."
We've paired the Pendant with 2 strands of 6mm Carnelian Rounds, color matched to the Pendant stone. The Carnelian is semi-translucent and meticulously polished, creating a soft shine. The Carnelian is complemented by transparent green 4-and-6mm Fire Polished Glass Ovals, which are faceted and give off a subtle sparkle. The stones are highlighted by four 8-by-21mm Stamped Sterling Silver Oval Beads and six 6mm Sterling Double Ring Spacers. At the top of the Necklace the 2 strands of Carnelian transition to 2 strands of 4mm Fire Polished Glass, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring wearer comfort. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Cones and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 86 grams and is 20-1/4 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-5/8 inches by 1-1/2 inches including the 1/2-inch Bail (when wearing, a vertical length of about 10 inches).
