This striking Necklace displays a Sonora Sunset and Sterling Silver Pendant by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. Sonora Sunset is a gemstone that was discovered in the Milpillas Copper Mine in Sonora Mexico after it opened in 2006. Though Milpillas is still in operation, the Sonora Sunset was mined out many years ago, making it a rare and highly sought after stone. Our Sonora Sunset is an attractive coral-red (Cuprite) with an area of black (Iron) and traces of green (Chrysocolla). The stone is wrapped in a custom Sterling Silver Bezel that has been notched, and is set on a plate of Sterling that mirrors its curved silhouette. It is ornamented with 16 handcrafted 5mm Sterling Silver Balls that were formed from molten Silver. The Pendant drapes from a custom Sterling Silver Bail and is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark and "Sterling." We've paired this great piece with 5 strands of 4mm Bamboo Coral Rounds, color-matched to the pendant stone. The Coral has been beautifully shaped and polished to a glossy sheen. It is complemented by 4mm peridot and translucent gray Fire Polished Glass Ovals, which are faceted and give off a subtle sparkle. The stones are highlighted by 5mm Sterling Silver Rounds and 4-by-6mm Stamped Sterling Rondelles. The Necklace is finished with 3mm Fire Polished Glass and Sterling Silver Cones and Ornate Toggle Clasp. It is adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 104 grams and is 18-1/2 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-7/8 inches by 1-1/2 inches including a 5/8-inch Bail (when wearing, a vertical hang length of about 8 inches).
