This exceptional Necklace showcases a Sonora Sunset and Sterling Silver Post Set Pendant by Nevada Silversmith Jim Daggett. Sonora Sunset is from the Millpillas Mine in Sonora Mexico, which opened in 2006. The Stone was mined in limited quantities, and has become rare on the market today. Sonora Sunset exhibits an unusual color combination of red, green and black, the result of Cuprite, Chrysocolla and Iron all being present in the Stone. Our Sonora Sunset has been slab-cut from a larger rock. The cut displays the many details of the Stone, including vivid coral-red coloring splashed with green matrix, and complementary areas of black and green. The Slab is 5/16" deep and the post-set design allows you to view the Stone from the sides as well as the top surface. It's a beautiful rendering of Sonora Sunset, visually integrating the rough edges of the Slab with polished surfaces and gleaming Sterling Silver. The Stone is wrapped by 5 Sterling Silver Prongs and sits on a Sterling Plate that has been stamped in a radius pattern. The Pendant hangs from a custom v-shaped Bail with stamping to match. The piece has been marked on the back with the artist's hallmark and "Sterling." We've paired the Pendant with 6 strands of Antique White Heart Cylinder Beads in dusty shades of coral. Each White Heart Bead has been separated by an element that picks up color tones from the Sonora Sunset, while also adding texture and visual contrast. The varied elements include Turquoise Rounds and Nuggets, Carnelian Rounds, Black Pearls, Czechoslovakian Nailheads, Picasso Turquoise Glass Rondelles, and light green Fire Polished Glass. The Gemstones are highlighted by four 14mm Sterling Silver Disc Beads — on either side of the Pendant — along with 8mm Sterling Silver Bicones and 5mm Sterling Triangular Beads. The Sterling contrasts beautifully with the White Heart Cylinders and adds subtle sparkle. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Cones and a Wrapped Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 116 grams and is 20 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 3-1/4" by 1-7/8" including the 5/8" Bail.
