This striking Necklace showcases a Spiny Oyster Shell and Sterling Silver Pendant by Navajo Jewelry Artist Gilbert Adakai. The Pendant features a teardrop-shaped Spiny Oyster Shell cabochon in graduated hues ranging from terra cotta to burnt umber. The Shell is wrapped by a number of eye-catching Sterling Silver elements, including 2 Curved Feathers, 5 Sterling Silver Balls, Twisted Wire Rope, and a curved Sterling Silver Strip at the bottom of the Pendant with intricate stamping. All of the elements sit on Sterling Silver Plate that has been shaped to mirror the design. The Pendant drapes from a V-shaped Sterling Silver Bail and is stamped on the back with the artist's hallmark — "GA" — and "Sterling."
We've paired the Adakai Pendant with 3 Strands of 6mm Red Agate Rounds, which emulate the Spiny Oyster Shell hues. The Agate is complemented by 6mm Red Tiger Eye Faceted Rounds — which have subtle iridescence and display both burnt umber and terra cotta colors — 8-by-7mm Picasso amber Czech Glass Helixes, and 4mm amber Czech Glass Faceted Bicones. These elements add color depth and visual interest. The stones are highlighted by six 8mm Bench-Made Sterling Silver Rounds. At the top of the Necklace the Red Agate transitions to 3mm Silver Rounds, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring a comfortable fit. The Necklace is finished with a Hammered Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 94 grams and is 20-1/4 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-7/8" by 1-3/8" including the 3/4" Bail.
